Social housing green paper: a ‘new deal’ for social housing

It seeks views on proposals for the future of social housing

IN THIS ARTICLE

It seeks views on proposals for the future of social housing. The green paper sets out five core themes:

  • tackling stigma and celebrating thriving communities
  • expanding supply and supporting home ownership
  • effective resolution of complaints
  • empowering residents and strengthening the regulator
  • ensuring homes are safe and decent.

This consultation from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government runs from 14 August to 6 November 2018.

There is an associated Review of social housing regulation: call for evidence which asks for information on how the regulatory regime is meeting its current objectives – both what works well and what does not. Alongside questions in the social housing green paper it marks the first stage in the review process.
