Retail Discount 2019 to 2021

In the Autumn Budget 2018, the Government announced a new relief scheme for retail properties with a rateable value of £51,000.00 or less. The premises must be occupied and wholly or mainly used to sell goods, services or food and drink to visiting members of the public.

Letters will be issued to all possible qualifying properties which have been identified based on the property description given to an assessment by the Valuation Office Agency. Any relief awarded is subject to state aid limitations therefore if you receive an award letter and this will result in your state aid limit being exceeded (€200,000 over a 3 year period) you must notify the Authority immediately. Further information on State Aid can be found at State Aid - Retail Discount.

If you think that you may qualify for this relief and have not received a demand you should contact the Business Rates Section by email.
