You may be entitled to Business Rates Relief if you own a pub, inn or tavern.

  • What relief is available for public houses.

This scheme provides a discount of £1,000 for pubs with a rateable value of less than £100,000 and was initially available for 2017/18 only.

In the Autumn Budget 2017 the Chancellor announced that the pubs relief scheme would be extended by a further year so the relief will have effect for 2018/19.

Eligible pubs will be those who:

  • are open to the general public
  • allow free entry (other than when occasional entertainment is provided)
  • allow drinking without requiring food to be consumed
  • permit drinks to be purchased at a bar

If you are eligible for this additional support we will send you a new Business Rates demand.

If you consider you are eligible for this relief and have not received a revised demand, please contact the team:
