No one should face cancer alone.

Macmillan Cancer Support works together with Colchester Borough Council to provide the Macmillan Welfare Benefits Service for Mid, North and South Essex. We offer a specialist service for people affected by cancer who live in these areas.

We are here for you

A cancer diagnosis may raise concerns about your financial security. You may experience difficulties with employment, paying bills or claiming benefits. We are here to help take the pressure away and support you through this difficult time.

What we offer

We will work closely with you or your representative to identify your problems and advise on what options are available to you. Our specialist advisers offer a free, confidential and impartial service. We can help you complete forms, act on your behalf and give you access to a range of services. If you are living with cancer, we can help you from diagnosis through to treatment, or end of life.

Common financial worries

  • My employer has stopped paying me sick pay and I don’t know what help is available.
  • I have been turned down for a benefit and I think the decision is wrong.
  • My partner has left work to care for me and we are struggling to pay the bills.
  • I am in arrears with my rent/ mortgage as I am too unwell to work.
