Premises Endorsement for Export (PEE) certificate
A food safety Premises Endorsement for Export (PEE) certificate will confirm from the information provided in the application, the product(s) have been produced/manufactured or otherwise processed or stored at a premises registered with the local authority and is subject to regular inspections, to ensure compliance with the relevant food hygiene legislation.
It will detail what type of products are covered by the Premises Endorsement for Export certificate. Goods are never inspected before issuing the certificate.
It is important when you submit your application that you insert a description that is acceptable to the importing company and authorities. The description should include all the products in the consignment.
Before applying for a PEE
- Ensure the product and country is not on the APHA list (different rules and certification requirements may apply).
- You should apply before your export has left the Colchester area, making your application at least 10 days before it is needed.You can apply afterwards if necessary, but we do not recommend this.
- PEE certificates are not accepted by all countries, import agents or customers.You should check with your customer, your import agent in the destination country, or export agent in the UK before applying.
How to apply
Applications must be made direct to us using the online application form. There is a fee for this service, the current fee is £97.
Payment can be made online by debit card or credit card when submitting an application.
When you apply, you will be asked to confirm you have documentation to show that the products have either been:
- produced/manufactured or otherwise processed by you, and that you have appropriate production records to show the correct application of your food safety management system including traceability of ingredients used in the products.
- and or, you have got them from a known and reputable supplier, and you have appropriate records to show the correct application of your food safety management system including traceability of those products (such as receipts, invoices and/or delivery or collection notes, temperature control, pest control records).
You must ensure you have these documents available in case they are needed as part of our checks. We may ask you to email these to us, or we may examine them as part of a site inspection visit.
