Local eCargo bike user's experience

Piter Vera works for the Community Interest Company GO4 Enterprises, a café based on Old Heath recreation ground offering support to the local community and owns Colchester Urban Beauty an aesthetics and well-being clinic based in Leisure World, Colchester.

What bike/s do you use?  

I use an Urban Arrow, it is small, light, agile and compact but has a big box on the front with two compartments that can carry up to 150 litres and 50kg. The battery range when full is on average up to 30 miles but by using the Eco mode you can travel further.  

What do you use the eCargo bike for?  

I use my e-cargo bike as my only means of transport for both work and leisure.
 
I use it to get to work, carry food for GO4 enterprises café, products and equipment for Urban Beauty Colchester, and tools for the Old Heath recreation ground community garden. At the weekend, I like to explore the countryside with it which is great for accessing areas I could not reach by car.   

What benefits do you get from using the eCargo bike?  

Using an eCargo bike is very inexpensive compared to using and maintaining a car, van or motorbike so I have saved a lot of money. Since I started using it, my health has improved, so this is a great way to keep fit too.   

Have you got any top tips for others who are interested in trying out an eCargo bike?  

Look after your bike and the bike will look after you. Follow the manual’s instructions and respect the maximum load allowed. Maintenance does not have to be expensive if you look after the bike. 

I would recommend it to anyone. It is an amazing experience and it allows you to reduce your business running costs and contribute to saving the environment too.  

How many miles have you clocked up using the eCargo bike?  

Approximately 220 miles a month.
