How Colchester will fund its services

Council Tax provides part of the funding needed by Colchester City Council, Essex County Council, fire and rescue and the police to provide their services. Authorities also retain a share of Business Rates and may recieve a Revenue Support Grant and other government grants.

Your Council Tax band ranges from A to H and is based on property valuations. Band A is 6/9 of the Band D tax and Band H is twice the Band D tax.

The total amount needed by all organisations for the next financial year is £130,116,108. If your home is in Band D, your Council Tax for this year will be £1,975.49. You may also need to pay your local parish council.
