Adult Social Care (ASC) contribution
Adult Social Care (ASC) is payable to Essex County Council (ECC) in addition to the main ECC contribution amount showing on your bill.
The ASC percentage increase is calculated by dividing the new financial year ASC increase by the previous year’s ASC and ECC amounts combined. The regulations stipulate that it appears on your bill this way.
Contribution example
An example of the ASC increase as a calculation follows for a band D property in Colchester City:
- £226.44 (2024-25 ASC) minus £197.46 (2023-24 ASC) = £28.98 increase.
- £1,252.71 (2023-24 ECC) plus £197.46 (2023-24 ASC) = £1,450.17 total 2023-24 precept payable to ECC.
- £28.98 divided by £1,450.17 x 100 = 2.0% (rounded to 1 decimal place).
