Environmental Information Regulations

The Environmental Information Regulations work in a similar way to the Freedom of Information Act, creating a general right of access to environmental information held by the Council.

Environmental Information includes information on air, soil, land, flora, fauna, diversity, genetically modified organisms, emissions and discharges, noise, energy, radiation, waste, the food chain and human health. The definition also includes the use of land for building so requests for information concerning planning matters will be dealt with under the Environmental Information Regulations.

The Council publishes an air quality in Colchester.

If you would like to make a request to the Council for environmental information please email EIR@colchester.gov.uk
