Colchester Borough Council is introducing a new process for temporary buildings, structures and changes of use to help businesses to recover from the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The changes are intended to make it easier for businesses to accommodate more physical space – including being able to place more tables and chairs out.

If we agree that you may erect a temporary structure without formal planning permission, it will have to be removed within six months. After this time, a formal application will be required.
