Business rates coronavirus grants

The Government has introduced new grants under its response to COVID-19. The grants will be distributed as widely as possible by the Council.  

The grants will be awarded automatically where it is known that a business is eligible. You will be contacted directly as part of this process if you fall into the categories below. 

Scheme 1 – Business Support Grants Fund 

£10,000 will be given through the support grant to: 
  • properties in receipt of rural rate relief 
  • properties in receipt of small business rate relief  

Exclusions 

  • businesses whose rates are calculated with the small business rate relief multiplier, but who do not receive small business rate relief, will not be eligible 
  • business properties which are occupied for personal use, such as private stables, beach huts and moorings, will not be eligible 

Scheme 2 – Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Business Grants Fund 

£10,000 will be given through the grant to businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors with a rateable value of £15,000 or less.  

£25,000 will be given through the grant to businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors with a rateable value of over £15,000 and under £51,000.
