Anti-social behaviour case review

The anti-social behaviour (ASB) is a measure that enables victims to demand action by requesting a review of their ASB case.

The aim is to bring agencies together to take a more joined up problem solving approach to find a solution for the victim.

It is a new provision in the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act which received Royal Assent in March 2014. For the purposes of the ASB case review, ASB is defined as 'behaviour that is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to any member of the public'.

The Essex ASB case review threshold is ASB reported 3 times in the previous 6 months, where the victim feels there has been no action taken (unless defined as hate crime where the trigger will be activated if ASB has been reported once in the previous 6 months and the victim feels like no action has been taken).

Between November 2023 and October 2024, we received 8 requests for an ASB case review.

• 4 of these requests did not meet the Essex threshold.
• 4 ASB case reviews were conducted and recommendations given.
