Colchester Homelessness Charter - about
Colchester Homeless Charter is a set of actions and aims, agreed, and adopted by non-profit organizations, businesses, individuals and Colchester Borough Homes and Colchester City Council, aimed to act as a foundation for commissioned and non-commissioned services to abide by to work together to prevent and tackle homelessness in Colchester.
Colchester Homeless Charter links together with Colchester`s Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2020-25 and encourages partners to share resources and expertise while promoting collaboration and multi-agency approach when tackling homelessness.
The aim of the Charter is to see the reduction in rough sleeping in Colchester, increase the prevention measures being offered to those who are at risk of homelessness, increase communication and collaboration between agencies and improve information sharing and access to community support and recourses available.
The Charter recognises and celebrates different types of provision and support across the city and encourages cooperation between all participants as a key to tackle homelessness. Provisions include the following:
- Public Sector Bodies – Colchester City Council, Colchester Borough Homes, Adult Social Care, Essex Police, NHS and other.
- Supported Housing Providers – YMCA, Sanctuary Housing, Peabody, Phoenix Homes, NACRO, KORBAN, Emmaus.
- Registered charities and the voluntary community – Y.E.S, OutHouse, Open Door, Beacon House, Salvation Army, Refugee Action and other.
- Faith Communities.
