Free adult advanced cycle training
If you are looking to hire an eBike or eCargo bike, we strongly recommend that you complete a free 1-to-1 adult advanced cycle training course if you are not confident cycling on roads and busy junctions.
There will not always be cycle paths available and you are not allowed to cycle on pavements (unless it is a shared foot/cycle path) so you will need to be confident cycling on the road.

What to expect from adult advanced cycling training
The training offered is 1-to-1 and in a location of your choice.
If you are already a confident and experienced cyclist, it won’t take very long.
Time commitment guide
- 1 to 2 hours for an experienced cyclist who is confident cycling on most roads.
- 4 hours for a cyclist with some experience and confidence cycling on quiet roads.
- 6 hours (2 sessions) for someone who can cycle but lacks confidence to cycle on the road.
Even experienced cyclists get a lot out of the training, as it teaches cycling to national standards, which many cyclists are not aware of.
It is also helpful if you have children to ensure that you are teaching them good cycling habits from the start, and reinforcing what they learn when they do bikeability training in year 5 or 6.
What others say about the cycle training
'As a lifelong cyclist but a non-driver, I was never quite sure of my rights or place on the road, I found it hard to predict what drivers might do and this made me quite nervous on the road. Doing the Bikeability level three helped me to understand how to ride safely and use my position on the road with confidence, I am definitely a much more confident cyclist after taking the course and I would and do recommend it to everyone.' - Kim Barnetson
'I took bikeability Level 3 training. I found the training engaging and rewarding. The trainer was excellent and I learned some good lessons, particularly about where to position myself on the road when navigating junctions. I would recommend the training to anyone wanting to improve their cycling confidence and skills.' - Stuart Johnson
'The bikeability training was great. Even as a cyclist with over 50 years experience I still learnt new things, for example the importance of adopting primary position in the road when approaching junctions which deters impatient motorists from over taking and cutting me up. Bravo CCC.' - Paul Byrne
