Colchester Borough Homes to continue managing council homes

The agreement for Colchester Borough Homes (CBH) to continue managing the city’s council homes has been extended until August 2028.

The current agreement between Colchester City Council and CBH was due to come to an end in 2023 but has been extended for a further five years. This means that at the end of this agreement CBH will have been managing and maintaining Colchester’s council homes and supporting their tenants for 25 years.

As well as looking after homes, CBH also helps us deliver support to those who are homeless or rough sleeping, and provides maintenance, design and construction services for our corporate buildings and building projects.

The decision to extend the agreement with CBH followed a four-month review, which included feedback from council tenants and councillors on how they felt CBH performed.

This found that CBH is a top performing organisation when compared to similar housing organisations in the region. Independently verified data showed that CBH is delivering a good performance in the services it delivers to council tenants whilst keeping costs low.

This has resulted in 83% customer satisfaction with the service provided, and savings of over £15 million since 2013.

CBH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the council set up in 2003 to manage our housing and support us to deliver homes to those who need them.
