Disproportionate burden assessment for our Climate Emergency Action Plan 2024-2027

Scope

The document informs residents about the environmental projects we are delivering to reduce the impact of climate change, some of which provide an opportunity for residents to get involved in the delivery of them.

The action plan may inspire some residents to take action in their own lives to reduce their environmental impact.

This will also enable environmental campaigning groups to assess the our environmental action plan to date.

Benefits of creating an accessible version

It would enable all residents to view the detailed action plan including action timescales, teams involved for example.

Burden placed on the organisation

It would require content of a lengthy document to be copied onto individual webpages for the different action plan themes. The document will also need regular updating (every 3-4 months) which is easier to do by uploading a fresh version of the PDF document each time, rather than updating all the content on each of the web pages.

There are already summary web pages on the action Plan published on our sustainability section on the website which provide content about the plan, this should be sufficient for most users.

Contributing factors

A summary of the action plan has already been produced which will be accessible to all residents.

Putting the whole detailed plan on the website will take considerable time, and we know that the general resident would not need the detailed information in the plan, this would mainly be of interest to other local authorities, councillors and partner organisations.

Assessment

The action plan has been uploaded as a PDF, with summaries already produced in HTML format on the website.

This will provide key information and links to more content for residents. If residents request an accessible version then we would look to make this available to them.
