You're guaranteed to make a red-carpet grand entrance from the moment you set foot in the Town Hall. Pass through ornate cast iron gates and you are in the entrance hall, which is dominated by a striking Italian marble staircase and a statue of Queen Victoria. Light streams through stained glass windows which tell the story of Colchester's vivid history. A perfect setting for a photograph capturing the start of your celebration. From the entrance hall you proceed to the room of your choice. We prepare the room so it is perfect for your needs, whether it be theatre style, fully-seated cabaret-style dining or buffet receptions.
The Moot Hall
The largest of our rooms, the Moot Hall, is resplendent with baroque architectural features including a colourful ornate ceiling and majestic columns. The entrance doors face three stunning stained glass windows that illustrate the history of Colchester since 1066. The room can be used for weddings, parties, charity nights and balls.
The Grand Jury Room
The luxurious Grand Jury Room is decorated with oil paintings and splendid chandeliers. Colchester's mayoral regalia, including the Borough mace used by the Town Serjeant for major civic events are on display. All of this combines to make a superb setting for smaller celebrations. It can be combined with the West Committee room and/or Mayor's Parlour for extra guests.
The Council Chamber
One of the most distinctive rooms in the Town Hall, the circular council chamber is adorned with fine paintings, murals, stained glass windows and a glorious painted dome ceiling showing a classical depiction of the 12 months of the year. It makes an excellent setting for wedding and commitment ceremonies.
The Mayor's Parlour and use of the Balcony
You'll feel like royalty when you step onto the Mayor's Balcony, above Colchester High Street. A dream photo opportunity - granted by the Mayor of Colchester and secured by a donation to the Mayor's charities.

What our Customers Say About Us
"Getting married in the beautiful Grand Jury room in the town centre was perfect for our chic modern day. We also opted to add the Mayors Parlour to accommodate our 100 guests which allowed for some fantastic shots from the Mayors Balcony"
Mrs B of Colchester
"We loved the Town Hall as it is such a unique venue. We didn't want a church or a bland hotel room for our wedding ceremony, so the Town Hall was perfect. We picked a lovely light, spacious and airy room which looks amazing in our wedding photos! I have such fantastic memories and would recommend anyone to get married at the Town Hall in Colchester!"
