The Grand Jury Room offers a classical and ornate venue for both personal and professional events alike. With the civic regalia display and a collection of oil paintings, this room is especially suitable for holding welcome drinks, ceremonies and receptions.

                                                         The Council Chamber

The Council Chambers is a spacious room, with a glorious painted ceiling showing a classical depiction of the twelve months of the year. The main features of this room are the Mayor's Chair, supplied in 1887 by Arrowsmiths of Bond Street, London, and the two stained glass windows, depicting the full Roman history of the Borough. The Council Chamber is a unique and memorable venue for weddings and commitment ceremonies.

                                                           The Moot Hall

The Moot Hall's grandeur is balanced by it's collection of historical oil paintings and ornate decor. It offers an ideal setting for a variety of occasions. The entrance doors face three stunning stained glass windows that illustrate the history of Colchester since 1066. This large room can be used for any event from exhibitions to weddings, AGMs to charity nights and balls. This is a perfect example of the beautifully maintained facilities available here at the Town Hall.

Catering and Bar Services

Catering at the Town Hall is provided by 5 great local catering companies for all events booked with us, they are Bespoke Caterers, Chimneys Catering, Hatfields Catering, Talbooth Catering and The Lemon Tree.

Offering competively priced and imaginative menus, experienced chefs and friendly professional staff you will find the perfect catering for any event.

We have chosen to work in partnership with these caterers as they know the Town Hall very well, have excellent reputations for fresh quality food and offer high standards of service ensuring your event is run smoothly and professionally.

Deciding on a caterer could not be easier, please contact as many of our caterers as you would like to for a quotation. Their experienced event managers will guide you through the menus and will be happy to tailor services to meet your budget, needs and choices.

The Town Hall holds a full Premise License which covers the sale and supply of alcohol. The licensing hours we are open for are:-

Monday - Saturday 12.00pm - 01.00am
Sunday 12.00pm - 11.00pm

 
Our Conditions of Hire state that the hirer must use the contracted caterer for all catering unless speciality food is requested. All refreshments, alcoholic and non alcoholic must be provided by one of our contracted caterers otherwise you are free to arrange your own entertainment, flowers, wedding cake and any other personal touches.

Parking

For your guests 20 car parking spaces are available at the rear of the Town Hall.


Facilities

The facilities include a fully accessible disabled toilet on each floor, hearing induction loops in all public rooms, level access into rooms and wide doorways.  A fully compliant DDA lift serves each floor in the main building.

Disabled car parking is available in the High Street or at the rear of the Town Hall. Access into the building for the DDA compliant lift is available via the St Runwalds street entrance at the rear of the building.
