Colchester Borough Council’s website is unavailable from 4pm on Friday 29 August until the morning of Monday 1 September 2014.

During this period of downtime, we are working on improvements to our IT infrastructure and preparing a new website. All this work will make it easier for you to go online for information, to make bookings, payments and more.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.


Whilst the website is down, you are still be able to use and enjoy the facilities that are usually open at weekends, including Leisure World, Colchester Castle and other museums, Aqua Springs, Charter Hall and Council car parks.

If you need to pay the Council during the time the website is unavailable, you may call our automated payment line on 01206 282500. Make sure you have your account details before you call. Alternatively, you may pay online again from 1 September.


Submission of online responses to consultations is not possible this weekend. To enable you to comment on consultations with a closing date immediately following this weekend, some dates have been extended. Please come back to the website on Monday 1 September.


Planning applications can be submitted online via the Planning Portal

Job applications

Completion and submission of online applications is not possible this weekend. To submit online applications for jobs with a closing date during the week starting 1 September, please come back to the website from Monday 1 September.
