Parking and Travel
It's easy to reach Colchester by road and rail from within the UK and beyond. If you're driving, it'll be straightforward to park once you're in the town. Car parks are close to shopping centres, museums and other places of interest. Cycling routes are being developed round the town, too. Colchester has several beautiful public parks and walks and the idyllic surrounding countryside is world-famous. As well as discovering local walks for yourself, walking in a group is a great way to stay motivated to exercise throughout the year. Check out the pages below for walking in a group, buggy-friendly walks and a lot more.
All town centre car parks remain accessible following the introduction of a traffic scheme by Essex County Council in March 2013 designed to reduce traffic and emissions in the heart of the town and make Colchester a better place to shop and enjoy. Use the links below to find the best car park and offer for you, whenever you visit.

Colchester Resident Parking Review Statutory Consultation
The statutory consultation is now closed, the closing date for comments was Monday 17th February 2013. All comments received on the subject will be taken into consideration when compiling the eventual scheme. A review of such a large scheme and area has generated a large number of comments and therefore the outcomes of the review will not be known for a number of weeks.
Full details of the outcomes as soon as these are available will be published to Councillors in affected Wards, then via other communications and on the www.colchester.gov.uk website in due course.
