Parking and Travel
Due to a planned upgrade our website will be unavailable from 4pm Friday 29 August. Visit our new look website on 1 September.
It's easy to reach Colchester by road and rail from within the UK and beyond. If you're driving, it'll be straightforward to park once you're in the town. Car parks are close to shopping centres, museums and other places of interest. Cycling routes are being developed round the town, too. Colchester has several beautiful public parks and walks and the idyllic surrounding countryside is world-famous. As well as discovering local walks for yourself, walking in a group is a great way to stay motivated to exercise throughout the year. Check out the pages below for walking in a group, buggy-friendly walks and a lot more.
All town centre car parks remain accessible following the introduction of a traffic scheme by Essex County Council in March 2013 designed to reduce traffic and emissions in the heart of the town and make Colchester a better place to shop and enjoy. Use the links below to find the best car park and offer for you, whenever you visit.

Changes to Colchester Residents' Parking
From Monday 15 September 2014 changes are being introduced to resident permit parking zones across parts of some Wards in Colchester. The changes follow a consultation and the review of more than 1,200 responses in early 2014.
For full details of the decisions made and the changes being introduced, please click here to visit the Resident Parking Review page.
