Taxi and Private Hire Licensing
There are two types of licenses issued by Colchester Borough Council that allow vehicles to be lawfully used for hire by the public:
- Hackney Carriages ("taxis") which can be available for hire at a taxi rank and ply for hire in the street. The Council controls the number of taxi vehicle licences it issues.
