Fraud Policies
Colchester Borough Council proactively seeks to deter, prevent and detect any instances of fraud and corruption. The Council has opened a dedicated phone line for people to report any suspicions they may have about fraud related to Housing or Council Tax Benefit.

The dedicated phone line for reporting Housing or Council Tax fraud is 0800 731 1004. You can also contact the Council via email by clicking on this link if you suspect Housing or Council Tax Benefit Fraud. Last year Colchester Borough Council’s Housing Benefit Fraud Section prosecuted six people, the penalties ranged from official cautions to community service orders, fines and compensations orders. Please help us to continue stopping people stealing your money.

The ‘Whistle Blowing’ Policy is intended to supplement existing procedures whereby employees or councillors of the Council may raise complaints or matters of concern. Please click on the link below for further details
