Retail Network for Food Waste Liners
Throughout the year long food waste trial, residents asked the Council to explore ways in which caddy liners could be made more accessible and reasonably priced.
Colchester Borough Council has been working with local businesses and organisations to establish a Retail Network to stock and sell compostable food waste liners.
The purpose of this network is to make the compostable food waste liners available to households across the Borough at a competitive price in order to make the liners affordable, whilst supporting local businesses.

Colchester Borough Council will be supplying liners to our stockists in response to their online orders to the Council.
Stockists will be selling them at a competitive price from £1.00 per roll.
Please note that these prices and stock availability may vary from store to store.
Colchester Borough Council is not responsible for the upkeep of stock in any of the stores involved in the Retail Network.
Residents do not have to have to use caddy liners to line their kitchen caddies, newspaper can be used also or food waste can be put in loose but this will mean that the caddy will have to be washed more frequently to prevent odours from developing.
The liners are made from a unique blend biodegradable materials, which allow the liners to break down naturally without harming the environment.
The liners are compatible with the Council's 7L kitchen caddy and when used help to keep the caddies clean as well as reducing odour and interference from flies.
The liners are certified compostable to standard EN 13432.
This is illustrated by each bag carrying the European standard seedling logo, showing that they are 100% compostable and biodegradable.
Please note that liners should be used within 12 months of the purchase date.
