A landmark visual arts facility providing a magnet for culturally led regeneration and tourism. It will be of international significance in terms of architectural design, quality and scope of programming. Talent will be celebrated which will stimulate the creativity and imagination present in the region with an emphasis on access, interpretation and education. Building on the popularity of the existing Firstsite centre it will contribute to the plans to increase visitors to the area by 500,000, and will also act as a lever for business investment and job creation.
Firstsite:newsite will also be the new home of the University of Essex internationally renowned Latin American Art Collection.
