Colchester Borough Council has 60 councillors who between them represent the 27 wards. Some wards have three councillors, smaller wards have one or two councillors.
Following the Colchester Borough Council elections of 5 May 2011 the political make-up of the Council is: Conservatives 24, Labour 7 Liberal Democrats 26, Highwoods Independent 3.
