Community Buildings

Mile End Consultation

Colchester Borough Council is carrying out a survey to gain community input for the purpose of building a new community facility in the Mile End ward. The development at the Severalls hospital site will provide substantial Section 106 contribution for this venture. No dates are confirmed at this early stage - the development site is in the early stages of residential construction and the community facility will follow as a next stage. This allows time to do initial research in order to provide the local community with a facility which will best serve its needs.

Alongside the online survey, the Council will be coming to Mile End to talk directly with residents - look out for our staff on the following dates;
Tuesday 20th February (2-4pm) - at the public open space between Myland Community Primary School and Chestnut House Kindergarten
Monday 19th March (2-4pm) - Nayland Road, near the COOP and Methodist Church

This survey will close on Friday 27th April 2018

Results of this survey will be published on this page in May 2018.

In order for the Council to gain an insight into the range of community buildings in the borough, regular community facilities audits are carried out. The audit covers basic details such as location, size, booking and contact details and, in addition, any outstanding building works that are required to keep the buildings fit for purpose.

In order for this audit to be kept up to date and relevant, Borough and Parish Councillors are asked to feedback to CBC with their input regarding their local facilities, with any updates.

The community facilities audit ensures that any available community planning gain is used effectively and reference is made to the audit within the communities' supplementary planning document.

For further details of the community facilities audit and to supply relevant updates, please contact our Community Enabling Team Officers as follows:
