IN THIS ARTICLE

The Council declared a climate emergency in July 2019, making a clear commitment to reduce emissions and the environmental impact of its operations.

We have now launched a survey to learn about how you currently hear about the Council’s work on environmental issues. This survey aims to explore this and gives you the chance to give your opinions and comments on how you would prefer to hear about the Council’s work on the Climate Emergency. The survey should only take you a few minutes to complete. This is the first stage of engagement we will be doing with residents to understand your views on the Council’s work to tackle the climate emergency.

About this survey

The aim of this survey is for us to understand how we can improve our communication and engagement around our work to tackle the climate emergency and reduce the environmental impacts of our work. To find out more about our work, visit www.colchester.gov.uk/sustainability

The survey will open for responses on Monday 8 March at 12pm and close on Monday 5 April 2021 at midnight.

Consultation now closed

This consultation closed on 5 April 2021.

Outcomes

The Council has reviewed the responses to the survey and will use the findings to inform our response to the climate emergency (and the communication of our work associated with it).

In May 2021 the Council updated its sustainability webpage to bring it up to date with details of the Council’s key projects and emissions. An updated Climate Emergency Action Plan for 2021-2023 and a draft Climate Challenge and Sustainability Strategy Themes document was also uploaded to this webpage.
