Operators monitor pictures from the 125 closed circuit cameras included in the Town Centre system. Staff are in contact with the Police, Community Street Wardens, Store detectives and Licensed door staff. Working in partnership with these agencies, cameras can be quickly deployed to cover the scene of any town centre incident. The system plays a significant role in the Council's ambitions to make Colchester a prestige town in the East of England. Lowering the crime rate and increasing the feeling of community safety are the successes of this scheme.
