Macmillan launch final

An official launch for a vital new benefits advice service for cancer patients has taken place.

The new service provides holistic welfare benefits advice to people affected by cancer, their families and carers living  in the Colchester Borough Council and Tendring District Council areas.

Three full time members of staff are employed by Colchester Borough Council for the Macmillan Welfare Benefits Service. They offer a dedicated service which can be accessed through a helpline phone number or via referrals from healthcare professionals.

The service offers information and advice regarding entitlement to welfare benefits and related grants, together with advocacy and representation to challenge incorrect decisions. Direct assistance will also be given to patients with applications for charitable grants and housing related needs.
