It is getting difficult to escape the current debates around Climate Change, it makes the headlines almost everyday now, and so it should! There is now overwhelming evidence to suggest that not only is Climate Change happening but that it is also related to Human Activity. If this evidence is correct, Climate Change will be one of the biggest challenges to face our planet. All of the actions and choices we make will have an impact on the local environment and ultimately the global one too.  Lets work together to make sure that we protect our environment and enable us to enjoy the best possible quality of life here in Colchester for generations to come.

What is climate change?

A change in climate is a change to the average weather we expect over a long period of time. For instance it would be the average annual temperature changing year to year rather than the 'weather' which would change daily. Climate change has always occurred however the main concern now is that the climate is changing at a much faster rate than it has done previously. Scientific evidence suggests that this more rapid change in climate could be caused by human activity through greenhouse gas emissions.
