• Freedom of Information Act

  The public has a general right of access to any information the Council holds, with some exemptions. Our aim is to publish as much as possible on our website so that you can access it quickly and without the need to make a formal request.

• Publication Scheme

  The Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires public authorities, like Colchester Borough Council, to adopt and maintain a publication scheme The idea of the guide is to let everyone know what information will be automatically, or routinely, published by the Council.

• Environmental Information Regulations

  The Environmental Information Regulations work in a similar way to the Freedom of Information Act and gives a general right of access to environmental information held by the Council.
