Festive Family Fun at Colchester High Street Market this Christmas

Date issued: 29 November 2017

With a fantastic line-up of activities, the Colchester High Street Christmas Market on Sunday 3rd December 2017 should be top of your list for getting in the Christmas spirit this year!

Colchester's Christmas Market, managed by Colchester Borough Council, runs right the way along Colchester's High Street from 9am-5pm. The High Street is closed to traffic, giving visitors a chance to stroll along the stalls and enjoy themselves browsing everything from gifts and memorabilia, to sampling mulled wine, festive street food and takeaway goodies.

In addition, there are classic funfair rides such as spinning tea-cups, and a free-to-enter raffle to win a family ticket to the Ice Slide in Castle Park - something for everyone to enjoy!

Reserve your Christmas turkey from G & J Barron Farms and have a bop along to your favourite festive and current tunes provided by Colne Radio.

Timings for the day's events as follows:

  • 11am: Bun Hurling from the Town Hall
  • 12pm: Christmas Songs from Abbie Harding
  • 1pm: Christmas songs from Sarah Isom's Millfields Primary School Singing Club (Town Hall steps)

Councillor Mike Lilley, Portfolio Holder for Public Safety and Licensing said: "I am delighted that Colchester will be hosting this festive event on the High Street this year.

"The stalls, decorations, entertainment, and festive food and drink on offer will all add to the spirit of Christmas in our town. I encourage residents and visitors to come along and see what Colchester has to offer this weekend."

To complete the perfect family day out, why not round off with a meal at one of Colchester's great coffee shops, cafes, bars or restaurants.
