Free Colchester Parking For Late Night Shoppers

Date published: 14 November 2017

Colchester Borough Council is offering shoppers an early Christmas present with free parking in the town during Late Night Shopping again this year.

Parking charges will be waived in all Council-owned town centre car parks from 3pm on the four Wednesdays leading up to Christmas: 29 November, 6, 13 and 20 December. Many of Colchester's huge selection of boutique and big-name stores are opening until 9pm on these nights.

Car park payment machines will be covered and marked out of use to make it easy for drivers to take advantage of the offer.

With Lion Walk Shopping Centre switching on their Christmas lights on the first Late Night, Wednesday 29 November, the town centre is set to be sparkling with festive atmosphere.

For an extra-special family evening out, Colchester Castle is also offering free entry from 3pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday 13 December. With carols, mince pies and entertainment, it's a great reward for the kids behaving themselves while you shop - and for just £3.50, they will be able to finish their evening by meeting Santa and receiving a gift.

Councillor Mike Lilley, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Public Safety and Licensing, said: "Colchester town centre offers shoppers a unique mix of independent and big name retailers to suit every taste and any pocket. With the added bonus of free parking for late night shopping in our award winning car parks, your Christmas shopping can be all wrapped up for family and friends."
