Residents and local businesses invited to comment on sporting facilities at Northern Gateway

Date issued: 30 October 2017

The Council's new sports hub and leisure led development at Colchester's Northern Gateway is making positive steps towards progressing the exciting new facilities, with a series of pre-planning consultation events taking place in early November.

Staffed displays events will be taking place at the following venues:

Colchester Park & Ride - 2nd November, 15.30-18.30

Mile End Methodist Church, Nayland Road - 4th November, 10.00-12.00

The display material will also be available to view at the below venues:

Camulos Academy - 6th & 7th November, 9.00-13.30

Colchester Library & Community Hub 9th - 16th November, 9.00-17.00

Councillor Annie Feltham, Portfolio Holder for Commercial Services, said:

"The Northern Gateway fulfils the Council's vision for a groundbreaking sports hub which we are confident will attract visitors from Colchester and beyond. We are supported by specialist advice from sports and leisure consultants and maintaining excellent relationships with the future operators of the sports hub facilities and with local sports organisations."

The planned developments align with the aims of the Council to promote the Northern Gateway as a major sports hub. The national focus around health targets, promoting physical activity and a wellness lifestyle, are also reflected in the core ambitions for the project and are in line with the healthy lifestyle focus of Sport England.
