Health and Housing Project

Colchester Borough Council are running a Health and Housing Project to promote the services of the Private Sector Housing Team.

This project has initial funding for a two year period.

The main aim is to improve existing links and forge new links primarily with health and social care partners, but also with other organisations. We want all professionals and voluntary services who visit peoples' homes to be aware of how poor housing conditions can affect the health and/or safety of the occupier or their visitor; and to know who they can contact when conditions cause concern.

The Project Team are happy to visit any professional or voluntary partners to explain how they can be instrumental in improving living conditions, the various hazards that can be considered under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System, and how referrals to the Council can be made easily. The Team can also signpost to other services where relevant.
