Holy Trinity Church Expressions of Interest opens

Date issued: 16 October 2017

Organisations are being invited to submit Expressions of Interest to run Holy Trinity Church for community use and secure the long-term future of the building. The building was previously run by GO4 Enterprises and vacated as recently as September 2017.

Holy Trinity Church, in Trinity Street, is one of the oldest buildings in Colchester. Parts of the Saxon church date to c.1000 AD, with other features added in the 14th, 15th and 19th centuries. Its Grade 1 Listed status underlines its unique historical importance.

All informal Expressions of Interest for Holy Trinity Church must be submitted no later than 5pm on Friday, 10th November 2017 to: fay.mathers@colchester.gov.uk.

The Expression of Interest document contains information about the building and terms of the lease. Further details can be found at http://www.colchester.gov.uk/communitybuildings.

Cllr Mark Cory, Portfolio Holder for Resources, said: "I would urge any organisation that shares our desire to find a new community use for Holy Trinity Church and breathe new life into the building to register their interest before the 10 November deadline.

"We hope eventually to work with a new tenant who is able to provide exciting new facilities and ensure that this wonderful iconic building, which is such a part of our history, remains an important part of our future."

Cllr Tim Young, Portfolio Holder for Business and Culture, said: "It is vitally important that organisations have an opportunity to bring this historic landmark building back into use, not only to safeguard its conservation and cultural heritage, but to open its doors to new uses and activities as a community space for years to come."
