Eco-house open weekend

For those wanting to pick up some tips for leading a more sustainable lifestyle why not visit a sustainable home.

We have 2 homes open this year with plenty of advice and tips available from both.

EcoDIY Clacton eco-house open weekend

Saturdy 9th and Sunday 10 September 2017

Time: 10am till 4pm each day

Address: 193 Burrs Road, Clacton on Sea, Essex, CO15 4LN

Have you ever wondered whether it is worth having a greenhouse, how much work it is to have chickens or keep bees, how well a solar hot water system works with a woodstove?

Ecodiy open weekend is your chance to find out. The well-insulated house, with wood-fired cooking, central heating, solar electricity and hot water is open as well as the Permaculture garden which supplies more than enough fruit and vegetables for a family, even in a built-up area. Rainwater systems, a well and reed bed supply water for the garden; chickens and bees complete the picture. Chris - an engineer as well as a grower - and Rosie are available to discuss individual lifestyle or practical issues, whether for cutting your carbon footprint, making a creative compost heap or reducing your food miles by growing your own vegetables.
