Refurbished 3G ATP pitch in Tiptree is sure to be a match winner!

Date published: 8 August 2017

Leisure World is carrying out work to replace the surface of the all-weather floodlit ATP (Artificial Turf Pitch) at its centre in Tiptree.

Work has started to completely refurbish the ATP pitch at Leisure World Tiptree, on the site it shares with Thurstable School, bringing it up to modern FIFA Standard.

Over the coming weeks, the old pitch surface will be removed and replaced with a new tarmacadam base and re-laid with a brand new 3rd generation rubber-crumb pitch - making it one of Colchester's premier artificial playing surfaces for junior and adult training, alongside matches for all ages.

Cllr Feltham, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Commercial Services, said: "Colchester Borough Council is committed to investing in its facilities to encourage grassroots sports clubs and increase the participation in sports across the Borough.

"As a well-used and much loved facility, the playing surface in Tiptree had become worn. It is being replaced with the latest standard artificial grass, which will be mean a higher quality surface that is easier to play on.

"Based on previous years, the period between August and mid-September is the time when the pitch is least used and we have chosen to carry the work out during this period to minimise disruption."

Once complete, the pitch will continue to be used by the school during the day in the week and available to the general public during the evenings and weekends. To book a 5-a-side 60 minute session from £24.50 or 11-a-side 120 minute session from £62.80 go to www.colchesterleisureworld.co.uk/activa

While the work is being carried out, the pitch will not be available for use. The works are anticipated to take around 7 weeks, with completion in mid-late September (weather permitting).
