Colchester's Voluntary Welfare Grant fund open for applications

Date issued: 24 July 2017

The £190,000 Voluntary Welfare Grant funding scheme for 2018/19 opened for applications today (Monday 24th July).

This funding is committed to supporting key voluntary and community groups, which provide valuable services to the borough. In addition, the funding helps to protect services that help to address and complement Colchester Borough Council's own strategic aims. The Council has been supporting the voluntary sector with this grant for over 15 years, and this funding opportunity is offered to local organisations annually.

Organisations can apply for a one-off grant of a minimum of £5,000 and up to a maximum of £50,000.  Funding is available to registered charities, constituted voluntary and community organisations and not for profit organisations.

Councillor Tina Bourne, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Communities said: "The Voluntary Welfare Grant is a fantastic way for local groups and charities to obtain additional funding and I would urge any interested organisations to apply online by the September closing date."

The application form and further information about the Voluntary Welfare Grant Fund can be found online:

The funding will be confirmed to the successful organisations by early 2018 and allocated in April 2018. The closing date for applications is the 29th September 2017. Late applications will not be accepted.
