Business Incubation Centre

Small and start up businesses in the Colchester region will now have access to a brand new purpose built incubation centre. 

On Friday 7 January 2011, Councillor Lyn Barton, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Sustainability opened the new North Colchester Business Incubation Centre. This project, which aims to enable job creation and boost to the town's economy, was delivered both on time and on budget by Colchester Borough Council.

The prestigious 14,000 sq ft North Colchester Business Centre houses 27 offices, a staffed reception area and training and meeting rooms in landscaped surroundings on the Colchester Business Park.  With easy access to the A12 and major road networks, the centre has already proved popular, with current near capacity occupancy 

This facility is managed by Colbea - Colchester's Business Enterprise Agency - They provide tenants with full ICT connectivity and optional free business support from Colbea's Business Advisors, who offer professional and impartial advice.

"The BIC is part of the Council's wider regeneration programme in North Colchester that aims to help make the town a better place to live, work and visit."

Bob Baggalley, Colbea's Chief Executive, said: "We are adopting the model that has previously been successful All tenants will enjoy 'easy in easy out' fully inclusive rents and on hand business support.  These new facilities are all about helping businesses grow and bringing economic prosperity to the area."

Construction of the new business centre was made possible by the support of the East of England Development Agency and the Haven Gateway Partnership. It also benefited from the quality and professional work of Rose Builders.

This project follows other key successes in North Colchester such as the A12 junction 28 and the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

The North Colchester BIC is part of a wider Colchester regeneration programme that aims to make the town a better place to live, work and visit.
