Curzon proposals to open a boutique cinema in Roman House, Queen Street

The proposed development of Roman House, Queen Street into a boutique cinema and high quality restaurants was agreed by Colchester Borough Council's Cabinet on 27 November 2013. The proposal will bring a three screen boutique cinema with high quality ground floor restaurants and will be the first Curzon cinema in East Anglia. The Council has now formalised a development agreement with Corinthian Curzon and a planning application will follow in May 2016.  We expect this proposal to bring 55 new jobs to the area.

The Council is now working with Building Partnerships to agree 'legals' for a budget hotel, restaurant cafes and student accommodation.

Both these developments will link eventually to Priory Street Car Park which itself will be redesigned during the summer of 2016 to showcase the town's historic Wall, improve the interpretation of this historic area and install lighting to highlight the bastions along the Wall.
