Hackney Carriage Plates
The number of hackney carriage vehicles in Colchester is regulated and the Council commissions an unmet demand survey to ensure that the number of licensed taxis is sufficient to meet the demand.  The last survey confirmed that there was no unmet demand and therefore the Council does not accept or process any applications made or received for new or additional hackney carriage vehicles. Should a new Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licence become available applications will be considered on a first come first served basis.  If you would like to be notified when a licence becomes available please email licensing@colchester.gov.uk stating your full contact details. You will then be contacted at the time with full details of the process.
