Animal Wardens

Date Published: 21 November 2007

Introduction
Photograph of Colchester's Animal Warden (on the right)Our trained and experienced animal warden carries out a wide range of activities to encourage responsible dog ownership, including educational talks, control of dangerous dogs, collecting strays and enforcing dog fouling laws.
  • We provide dog waste bins throughout the Borough to encourage owners to clear up after their dogs
  • We give regular presentations to schools and other interested groups on the work of the animal warden and on responsible dog ownership
  • We provide a service to implant micro-chips in dogs to make sure they can be easily identified and returned if found straying
  • We work closely with other organisations such as the RSPCA and Police on issues such as cruelty and dangerous dogs
